Review: The Social Network

The Social Network is a drama about the founding of the social networking website Facebook and battle with lawsuits resulting by the creation. The film was directed David Fincher, and the script was written by Aaron Sorkin.  The screenplay is an adaptation of the Accidental Billionaires. The film was produced under a budget of $50 million, and grossed over $130 million. This is a critical success, gaining high ratings from well know critiques.

The plot of the film is as follows. The film starts in a noisy bar where Zuckerberg and his girlfriend are having a conversation. At the end of the conversation, his girlfriend dumps him. Fueled by anger, Zuckerberg stomps to his dorm. Then he hacks the college network and obtains pictures of every female student. Then he sets up a site called Facemash, a site which students can give ratings to girls based on their hotness. This was an instant hit. He then catches the attention of the Winklevoss twins, who have a great idea of setting up social media sites only for Harvard students, Harvard Connect. He takes this idea, and with help of his best friend, Ecuador Saverin, seta up the site, TheFacebook. Sean Parker, founder of Napster, came across the site when Zuckerberg expanded the site to other colleges. Zuckerberg met Sean Parker while he was in New York searching for advertising offers. Sean Parker gives ideas, which makes Zuckerberg move to Silicone Valley, with funds from Ecuador. The site became very successful. After few months, Ecuador loses his shares in the company, as he was not directly involved in its operations. Zuckerberg has to fight against two lawsuits during the film, one by Ecuador losing share in the company, and the other for stealing Winklevoss twin’s idea. At the end Mark loses the court battle, and has to pay $68 million to Winklevoss twins, and an undisclosed amount to Ecuador. Ecuador also gets his status as founder restored. This is the plot of the movie.

This is a great film. Even though, the film does not portray the accurate events which happened during Zuckerbergs’s first year in Harvard, but it is almost like a biography of his first year in Harvard. Zuckerberg is portrayed as a sociopath in the film, but he may not be a sociopath in real life. The performances of actors portraying real life characters are as accurate as it can be. The film has dramatized the actual events to more interesting and exciting ones. The screenplay is very funny for a drama. There are intense conversations in the film. These are the features that make this film great.

B.A.M (Bachelor of Anger Management)

There was a father and a son, who were living in a village. The father was a carpenter and the son was a student who was studying in a high school. The son’s mother was an extremely short-tempered person. The main problem was that she would throw words which would hurt anyone. The mother would doubt her husband unnecessarily and she was a tough personality. He decided to leave his wife and take his son so that she could not be a bad influence on his son. The father was the straight opposite to her. He was cool and calm.

The father raised the son. He gave him everything he needed and more. The father did all of his duties - even more than he could afford. The son was also equally good and was a boy who understood the family’s survival and behaved according to it. The son was well disciplined and an obedient. His father taught him right from wrong.

One day, the father was watching news on the TV. At the same time, the son asked to watch his favorite sports channel. The father refused to change the channel and was concentrating on the news. His son was begging for a while and suddenly started to yell at his father. The son used some disrespectful words with his father. The father was shocked. The son’s eyes turned red. He yelled again at his father and kicked the door of the living room and went to his room.

The father was upset with his son’s action. He made up his mind to advice his child. He went towards him. The son was crying. The father gave him a piece of wood and some nails. And he asked his son to hammer a nail into the wood when he is angry. The son followed his father’s advice but they were still not communicating well.

Days passed. Step by step, his anger diminished. The father was observing this. One day, he took his child to a quiet park. The father asked his son to bring the piece of wood. At the park, the father asked his son to remove all the nails from the piece of wood.

After the son took out of all of the nails, the father asked his son, “Now what do you see in this?” The son, who was maintaining silence for a minute, replied that he could see the holes in the piece of wood.

The father sat next to his child, and he placed his hand on his son’s shoulder. The father said, “Son, think of the nails as what you say when you are angry. The holes are the impact of your words. Now, whatever you do, you can’t cover the holes. Even though you might try, you can’t make the piece of wood look as it did before. That’s it my son, you can’t take back what you have said. So better think twice before you talk.”

He apologized and hugged his father tightly. !!!!!!!

Introducing the New Controller from Microsoft

News about this controller has been spreading around the media for the past two years. The Computer savvy people got to know about this big release from an information leak from Microsoft in May 2009. During 2009 E3 conference, Microsoft announced this as Project NATAL, a new gesture based controller for XBOX 360. After that there were occasional information leaks on this on the Internet. In June 2010 Microsoft unveiled its final name with its features. Kinnet, new gesture based controller for XBOX 360, is a unique controller unlike any other controller on the market. Today (November 4th) it has finally gone up for sale. This how the information has spread.

Kinnet is a very advance, state of the art controller for a game console. This is a controller, which a user does not have to hold it to use. It has three cameras; middle one is a RGB camera, that captures video at a resolution of 640*480, the other two cameras are depth sensors. All three cameras combined form a 3D image of the user. The console uses this to detect body movements, with the direction of movement. Then the console uses this to find out how the user wants to control the interface, and responds to it.  User can use this to select an item on the menu just by pointing their hands, or play a boxing game just by pretending to play a real game of boxing in the user’s living room. This also has voice and facial recognition, which allows users to talk to the console, and play with up to four players simultaneously. This is a new innovation, that incorporates cutting-edge technology.

How to give a good presentation

A presentation is not only about presenting on the topic you are given, but also presenting yourself in an effective method in front of your viewers, judges or any audience. Creativity in forming slides, attaching pictures and videos are the major constituents of an interesting presentation. But apart from these, there are several other things which add up and are things which people usually don’t take into consideration. Dressing and communicating skills are these two things and they play a larger role.

First impression is the best impression. You can impress people by your dressing, because your appearance alone will earn you some points which at the start could be a stronger foundation or pillar for your presentation. Moreover, make the audience feel that you have something interesting with you and they would be eager to watch you present.

Body language, politeness and eye-contact are a few things which come under communicating skills.

The body language in this case refers to the way in which you present your information about the topic you have chosen in front of everyone. How effective is it? Through body language you can show the knowledge you have on the topic and also your involvement and dedication will be brought out.

By being polite you gain even more attention from your viewers, and also you should take enough time to explain about the ideas you present in front of them. Find out what things they really need to know, some amazing facts which would keep them from being bored. When you speak on general things that will be a normal one, so speaking on new things is definitely going to help. There will be situations in which you may find people not paying attention to you, that is the point where you should really be patient and continue with your presentation.

During the course of your presentation you should be capable enough to capture the minds of the viewers. And this is the point in which your eye contact is required. Through eye contact a strong bond is formed between you and the viewers and by this it informs them about your interest and pleasing behavior.

For a simple, good and a clear presentation these are the basic things which are required, and apart from this, the timing and a proper ending will raise your score even more.

Obesity on the Rise

Obesity is when people gain too much weight, and become oversized. It can cause discomfort to people in the surroundings. This is a common problem faced by the modern world. This is found in every country in the world. This is a very dangerous condition.

One reason for the cause of obesity is that people do not know about the nutrition in what they eat. There is a lot of food with negative nutritional value. Some foods are good in nutritional value, but should be eaten in small quantities. For example, a 100g bar of chocolate has about 500 calories, that is a quarter of energy, that is required by an average person for a day. Many people think, that the size of the food is small, so it won't do any harm to them, therefore, they will eat a large quantity of that food. The food can contain a lot of energy, that they may not burn in one day. This extra energy will be stored as fat, therefore, overtime these people gain weight. Lack of knowledge is a reason for obesity.

Another reason for obesity is temptation from external sources. People can be easily tempted to eat food. Companies such as McDonald spend billions of dollars to expose this weakness, and tempt people to try their food. This is done in the form of advertising. People try these food, and become addicted to them. People also can be tempted by friends and family members to eat food that they do not want. Temptation is another reason for obesity.

Obesity leads to many problems. Obesity decreases a person’s age of mortality. The complications resulting from obesity are: heart diseases, strokes, high blood pressure, punctured blood vessels, and inability to walk. Obesity causes problems to the general public, such as discomfort to passengers in buses and trains. Obesity costs a nation millions of dollars in health care, obesity related complications, and making public places suitable for obese people, such as large chairs, and heavy duty escalators and elevators. Obesity is a problem that a nation’s government and citizens should be concerned about.

Obesity can be solved by educating people on the matter, and making them do exercises. When people are educated, they will know, what they should eat, and what they should not eat. They will also know, what quantities to eat. Exercises help to burn off extra food, that they have eaten. This will help these people reduce weight by helping them burn more energy that the energy, that they had gained for that day. Education and exercises is the solution for obesity.

Obesity is a common problem faced by all the countries. There are many reasons for obesity, but lack of knowledge is the main reason. Education and exercises will help to put an end to this problem

One day, a father was washing his newly bought car. His son was playing in the garden. The son was bored with his play and searched for his father. He searched for his father everywhere and at last saw his father washing the car.
The son expressed his feelings to his father and requested him to tell a story. The father, who was busy with his car, told his son to accompany him with his work. The son was helping him to fetch water.
Suddenly he heard some noise. The son was scratching the car with the keys. The father was so angry that he took a screw driver and started to hit his son's fingers furiously. The son was shouting loud and yelling for help. At last his mother came and stopped his father from beating him. It was too late, the son's fingers were bleeding.
The mother cried and took him to the hospital. There the doctors said that the child's bones were broken. The mother cried. She called her husband and revealed the news. The Father was shocked. He cried for being so cruel. He was walking around the house not knowing what to do. Suddenly, he saw the scribblings on the car. It read ' I Love you Dad'.
The father felt guilty. He was ashamed for his actions and at last he hanged him self due to his guilt.

'Things are to be used and People are to be loved'
